What a child you have!! Her wit, strength and peace are so inspiring. Agility is new to this older member but what I have gained from knowing of your daughter is powerful. Her final run with Diva is so inspiring and touching and It is so special that you, her momma, will get to experience that moment for ever.
God bless you all and it has been so special knowing your daughter.

Thank you ,Lis, for being so special and showing us all how to think about living and passing. My prayers are with you

You were the first person I talked to on Chip's and my first day of beginner's agility. That's when we first saw the fabulous Diva Dawg. I knew absolutely nothing about dog agility and dog training. You were so funny and helpful to me. Your cool accent and red hair makes you absolutely unforgettable. Your honesty, integrity, and humor make you the unique and genuine person that you.

I have been blessed to have known you. Your legacy will live on.

You probably don't remember me, but I visited with you at the DAWG trial in McKinney a few weeks back (weekend of the snow storm in Dallas). I held Kiss for you while you ran Diva, and we chatted for a while.

You are an inspiration to all of us with health issues. You have persevered dispite all of your health problems, and have continued doing what you love most. You have proven that, to the truly motivated, there is ALWAYS a way to reach your goals. You are leaving a wonderful legacy of courage and strength that all agility folks will admire.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Comments: Hey, Lis'. There's a small class of people who can be described as "true." True to themselves and to everyone they encounter. It's a blessing to know that every conversation we've had, and everything you've ever done and said has been in the name of what is true. Most of all, you've been true to the beasties... they can never have enough advocates, and you have always spoken up for their welfare. Others may not agree or see the purpose in what others do. But you've never let it stand in your way... in the name of what is true. God bless, my fiery friend. :-)

Comments: Lis,
What an amazing run.........thanks for sharing. Agility people and their dogs are absolute wonderful. After 20 years in conformation as a professional handler I have never met such amazing people. Even though I have not met you or Anne I feel like I was brought to this agility venue to understand what real amazing people there is out there. My life has changed due to agility, the people and one little amazing dog "Morgan"(cardigan)and now in the last week you and Anne have helped me even more. I do not have a terminal illness but whine and cry about pain from fibromyalgia. You and Anne are inspirations to me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have shed a few tears in the last week, once when I heard about Anne who I did not know and this morning when I watch you last run with Diva.........tears of sorrow, tears of joy and tears of amazement. Hope to meet you both someday and will think of you both often. Your run will be in my mind, soul, & body when I run my Cardigan girl next. She has 19 Double Qs and over 900 points toward her MACH when she herniated a disc in her back. If safe for her I will run her again and hopefully a MACH and then I will shed a few more tears and some of those will be in memory of your and Diva's last run.............I know now we will run our MACH lap in honor of two wonderful ladies and the great sport of agility and where this journey has brought me. Thanks to you and hope your crossing is as peaceful as it can be...

Comments: Lisa,
I first watched you run because your dogs were so cute and you did such a marvelous job with them.
Later I made a point of watching you run because you were and are the best example I've ever seen of someone living life to its fullest despite the odds. You were so kind to me as I worried through my sister's battle with AML...it is ironic and sad that you have to face that same horrid monster, on top of breast cancer. It is something of an insult.
When my sister died, she told us all to "live like you are dying." You are the only person I've ever seen truly do that. Since I developed my heart problems, you have been my example of how to live with a chronic illness. As I struggled to get back to a new "normal" and to running agility, I told myself "If Lisa can do it, so can I." I hope someday to develop the patience and grace you have shown (ok, you may not always have felt it, but you showed it).
You have enriched our lives with your presence, and we will be diminished by your loss. I will miss you.
Laurie

Do you remember the first time we met in person, shortly after you moved to Dallas? We spent several hours that afternoon watching Kumba, Wicket and Zephyr play and run and tumble and swim themselves exhausted. I was sorting through those pictures recently - everyone, including us, looked so happy.

That's still one of my most golden memories - we had a fabulous time.

(And I'll never forget the time you flung your fake boob at me..."Think fast!")

(...or the time we vended t-shirts in the mud in Omaha...)

(...or when Kumba borrowed Zephyr's tuxedo to wear at a wedding...)

Bless your heart, Lisi. Your strength is inspiring.

I never believed in "goodbye", but "See you later", because we will.

You were running Diva (I think!), who, at one jump short of the end of a BEAUTIFUL run, left the course to sit in the lap of the bar setter, whom she obviously knew.

It was one of the funniest demonstrations of dog character I have ever seen. She was obviously living up her heritage as a lap dog. LOL!! And you took it so wonderfully.

I will never forget that, nor will I forget the courage with which you are facing this next phase.

I hope I will be half as brave when it is my turn.

I'm so glad our paths crossed; although, I wish it had been in person. We were fortunate enough to talked once in a while, on the phone, a few years back. I've always admired you, and the wonderful rapport you had with your dogs.

I love the poodle pin you so kindly sent me, years ago (2002), when you were packing to return to New Zealand. She's very precious to me; as is the purple buddha. My two favorite things – the color purple and poodles.

You've more than put up a valiant battle with the dragon. I don't feel that you've lost, it's just now, time to rest.

Again – I'm glad our paths crossed, and I'll never forget you.

Lisi, you probably know why. There's so much. First, that long time ago phone call when I called and asked what was wrong. From then till now, I always think of you. I've always felt this dark place in your body that refused to get better, and you knew that. No matter what happens, you haven't failed anyone. You've made the decisions that were best for you, and fought as hard as anyone I've ever known. One day we humans will have cures to these horrible diseases. One long day from now.

You beat it the first time, and lived with it the second. This new thing... well, maybe it's the Lord saying you've been through enough. Or, maybe not. Either way, you know how much you mean to all of us here. we love you, and wish you all kinds of strength.

So be strong, and be brave, and don't forget your promise. :D

And if you see Kumba soon - Give him a big hug from me. And if you are lucky enough to stay with us here, we'll be happy to wait a bit longer. So don't rush on my account. Or his. We'd much rather you hang out with us here on earth a bit longer.

We all love you girl! You know, I shared your video of your run with Diva with a few friends. One told me you had to be the strongest person she'd ever seen. I agree. I don't know how you've done it, but you have always had such a wonderfully positive attitude when I talked to you.

I'm sorry we never got to meet in person, so I could give you the great big hug I want to give you.

Love ya, teresa.

I have been able to watch you & your Cresteds run at
USDAA Nationals and have admired how positive you always were with them. I also admired your running an "off" breed, as somone who also runs "off" breeds (Boston Terriers & Doberman).

Your strength at the most awful of times is beyond admirable--I hope when my time comes to be able to face it with the strength of character that you have. I too hope I will be able to have one last dance with my dogs as you did with Diva--and have it look half as great as your run with your Diva did. Congratulations on the ADCH!!!!!!

Maybe you remember me, I have Kermit the JRT who had patella surgery last July and you were very supportive, we spoke on the phone and you gave me valuable information. Kermit is back to competing and running very well this spring.

I have followed all the posts on Agile Dogs and watched your SuperQ run, it was spectacular. Who would ever know you are sick from watching that great run. Diva is a doll!

Kermit needs 2 Q+ for his ADCH - those suckers are nearly impossible for some of us to achieve. I will forever think of you each time I step up to the line.

You are one inspiring lady, I admire your courage and know that your dogs will get the lives they deserve and meet you in heaven some day.

I remember two years ago when I was first getting to know you. You came to our Humane Society event to represent CM Streek, Terry was ill that night. We stood by the door and you asked me to point out the Humane Society people and then in you went. At the end of the night Lynn asked me how you knew so many people there. I told him that when you walked in the door you didn't know a soul there. He said “man”, I said “yeah, I know - it was like she was everyone's long lost friend.” That was also the night you told me about the cancer. I thought, my gosh, this woman has been fighting this awful disease and just look at her, she just radiates, she's beautiful! As I got to know you better I realized that your beauty is the truest kind, it comes from within you.
I will think of you every time I get discouraged and I will be strong.
I will think of you before every run and Domino & I will Run Fast & Run Happy.
I will always keep you close to my heart.

Comments:Hi Lis'

My husband and I loved watching your last Snooker run with Diva. We were both so moved by your courage, your focus, and the choreographed beauty of your run. As you know, I have won multiple national events and was on the World Team for several years with my Jessie. I have always strived to have a run where I was totally in the moment and at one with my dog, but I do not feel that I have accomplished that to date. You did both of those things in that run with Diva. Your concentration was so absolute and your performance was so breathtaking. Almost never have I seen someone give one run so much. While there was no guarantee that it would end up being a Super-Q, it almost had to be with that amount of focus and concentration. Thank you so much for sharing that moment with the world. It helps the rest of us put things in proper perspective. I know your time is short. I wish you the best, that you may be kept comfortable and that you are at peace.

Love,

I haven't known you well, but you have always been a person I admired for having such amazing strength and courage to carry on with the sport you love over the years since diagnosis. I will always remember (and still have) the t-shirt you gave to me because it had a picture of a white German Shepherd on it that looked so much like Trina. Trina died of cancer shortly after, and I still cherish that shirt. You may not even remember that, but that is just one small example of the many ways you touched so many people's lives. Whatever the future holds for you (and we are all optimistic those Dr's got it wrong), go forward knowing you are much loved and admired by many (both human and 4-legged) and have touched the world in a positive way.

Comments:I wrote this to the list, but wanted to include it in your dreambook - You don’t know me, but we watched your runs over the weekend in McKinney. My husband ran our two girls as I recently had two spinal surgeries and can’t handle for a while.

I want to say that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I know what you are going through.

I’ve lost many people in my life to cancer, watched them go through chemo for years, only to say “enough.” I, myself, am a cancer survivor. If I could give you even one of my years of survival, I would.

Know that you have inspired me anew. I will be sharing your story and the video at the two Belgian Nationals we are getting ready to attend. So many of us forget what a gift life is and how lucky we are to share it with our dogs.

When you do leave the confines of this Earth (and I truly hope the doctors are wrong about the time), I pray that it is peaceful. I know that you will be the guardian angel of agility watching over us all.

Comments:There is a song that just came to mind Lis when I saw you and Diva run its by Jose Groban
The song is called "You Raise Me Up"

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up... To more than I can be

Lis you are stronger than I will ever be. I raise my hands up and say a prayer for you.

It was incredible and the best part was the love and connection between the two of you. I don't know how you held it together during that run, but it was breath-taking. Life is not fair at times, but I hope your journey during this difficult time is a bit easier, knowing how many lives you have touched. I hope you leave us with a smile of joy and the knowledge you gave your very best to the entire world of agility and all those who love you. I remember when Diva entertained us at the Susan Salo clinic by rolling in her sack to get to you. I remember when you helped break up a dog fight. I have always admired you and still admire you. You are more than an inspiration to me. You indeed have a special bond with your four-legged kids. Your bond with Diva reminds me of the bond I had with Barret. Give Kumba and Barret a hug for me. I miss you. Your snooker run was amazing. You and Diva were definitely running in the zone. Thank you for sharing your run. The song was perfect.

Watching your run with Diva truely touched my heart, and I've cried several times thinking about it. I can think of no better way to spend those last few moments playing that game that so many of us love.

You guys showed teamwork that goes beyond training and skill...there was a beautiful bond at work on that course. Please know that there are many of us around the country, and likely around the world, that are rallying behind you and supporting you.

The agility community is a better place thanks to you and your special girl, Diva. Thank you for setting the bar so high and reminding us that above all, integrity and love for ourselves and our dogs prevail.

I wish you a peaceful journey. We will all meet in time. I look forward to meeting you.

Comments:Dear Lis'...I've never had the pleasure of meeting you or seeing you and Diva run in person, but I've played, and replayed your last run together dozens of times. I was thinking of not competing in agility any more due to the aches and pains of aging. You have given me the inspiration to give it another try. I will be praying for that miracle that would keep you on this earth longer, but in the event God wants another Angel with him, know that you and Diva have made so many of us all rethink how we live our lives. God Bless!

Comments:Lis', my constant prayers are for an outright GOD THING miracle for you, my Friend.
But... if God doesn't heal you here on this earth, I know He WILL you the other side of Heaven, a place too wonderful for us to even imagine.
A place where Kumba and Onyx wait for you, as if no time has ever passed.
A place where my Nicholas waits for me.
YOU will still be YOU there. YOU will recogonize those you love there and they will recognize YOU.
There is no illness or pain or tears there in this place that has beautiful colors we have never seen and music we have never heard.
How do I know about this place called Heaven?
My Bible tells me so! My Jesus is there and he awaits our Homecoming!
Lis', you and I have talked about this on the phone and I know that you know that He loves you more than anyone else ever has and more than anyone else ever will.
Dale and I also love you and are so grateful for the time we spent togather last fall here in Tulsa.
My prayers continue for you and for those caring for you, and for your precious little Diva, and for the people caring for her.
You are loved, my Friend. Robin and Dale

Before reading your last post I always thought of you as that friendly, happy and hard working handler who always brought a smile to my face. Since reading your post, I have even more admiration for you. THEN I watched the video and I know it's been said a million times and in much more poetic ways, but I was truly touched. To be honest, I'm a puddle of tears right now - not so much sad tears but tears that come with the swelling of pride and joy in seeing you be able to meet and even exceed your goal for your lovely Diva (and her canine family members too). I think of the loving friends who are standing by you and the courage it took to find them just the right guardians and YES! We will watch for them on an agility course in the future. Of course, we will need to bring hankies because every time they run we will think of you and how YOU made them into the dogs that they are today -

You have touched so many lives, including my own.

Thank you

message I read. What a beautiful tribute to the love of dogs, a sport and most of all your friends. I believe dogs are angels sent to us by God. I have no doubt that the love you have of your angels, will get your through. Allow them to comfort and keep you.

I watched the video of your run with Diva Dog. How very beautiful and brave of you and how very wonderful it was to see your little dog performing so well for you. It's evident that Diva Dog loves you to no end. Thanks for reminding me what life is all about. Prays are going up for you, lovely lady.

My stars, girl, it's been since dbb dog dirt, and just look what you've doggedly accomplished!!! (while many of us olde acker woolgatherers were merely sitting on our areas and gazing into the middle distance.

You've held off dragons with your bare hands, strong will and with your bare nekid cc's with great skill. *G* We so admire you and the dogs you wrote in on! You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Kumba will greet you when you get over the final hurdle, and no doubt you will do so with your usual grace, your humor and your joyful and fearless embracing of every moment's adventure- from this life into the next.
Agile not fragile, that's you and praise be.

Happy landing, dear Lisi!

Comments:Lisi,

You have no idea the impact that you have made upon my life. Not only have I learned so much from you about dogs but also how to live your life to the fullest while facing challenges. When you were in New Zealand at the beginning of your fight, my youngest daughter was born with health issues. I watched your determination and tried to teach that to her. Today, she knows that she will never be told "you can't do that because of your health." She lives a much fuller, richer life thanks to your example. You have set a high standard for us to live by.

As you have been for the past 8 years, you will continue to be in my prayers. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us.

((Hugs))
